γ .1 - THE SKY-BLUE.
CHARACTERISTICS :
82678 - Housing.
Since Garcia has retired from the leading of the Mitchell production, its name has no longer its place on the housing.
The writings "MITCHELL 408" are casted on the name plate. They are painted in white color.This paint is particularly fragile.
The structure of the housing hasn't been modified. The part reference is still same too.
82793 - Drive Gear*
The Drive Gear is similar to the one of the late Garcia Mitchell 408 sky-blue (same reference), but it is now made in aluminum.
82807 - Pinion Gear*
The Pinion Gear is made out of brass.
81310 - Planamatic Gear*
The Plasmatic gear is not machined longer but caste. The former lube hole that was drilled in the gear is no longer processed.
81044 - Handle Knob Screw.
The circular slot that had been machined on the former handle Knob Screws is not made anymore.
? - Handle Shank.
The Handle shank is modified. The inscription "high-speed" is removed and the knob is made out of grey plastic.
OBSERVATION
All the parts marked with an * haven't been checked out from an original factory reel.
The reel shown have been assemble with Mitchell spare parts. This construction is the assumption of the most probable assembly. It has to remain questioned.
γ .2 - THE MIDNIGHT-BLUE.
MAJOR CHANGES.
81341 - Housing.
The Housing is the very same as the sky-blue one (Same Manufacture Identification : FL114) but it is painted in midnight-blue. The paint isn't as resistant as the original midnight-blue one (which what heat treated). The aim is obviously to make this reel look like the original 408. The reference of this housing part is changed back to the original one.
A Sticker is glued on the foot (at the serial number's location). "MITCHELL" is written on it, in the lettering type of the Browning period.
81320 - Rotor.
The same Midnight-blue paint is applied on the Rotor.
81325 - Side Plate.
The same Midnight-blue color is put on the side Plate.
81316 - Handle Shank.
The original handle shank with the red "High Seep" sticker is back.
81042 - Handle knob.
The Black handle Knob is back.
Pick Up Type 3
The full Pick-Up is changed. The former Roller Type2 is replaced by the new type3 consisting of the following components :
82900 - Bail screw#2.
82904 - Bail Foot#2.
82902 - Bail Arm.
82899 - Bail Screw#1.
82887 - Guide Line.
