1 - Gleason cut Hand set.
REFERENCE : 81322 - 88R (LH : 81323 - 88RL).
OBSERVATION :
Thiers version of the hi-ration pinion gear released. Fits the Gleason-cut driving gear (81327 - 50R). The screw thread is flattened on one side for being assembled to the rotor with the "D"spacer (81302) and the Lock Nut washer (181299).

2 - Gleason cut Preset.

OBSERVATION : Preset version of the same pinion gear. The former one and this one are interchangeable, but the "D"spacer and the Lock Nut washer are abandoned.
A circular slot is milled around the bearing arbor, on the rotor side.

3 - Low Ratio.

OBSERVATION :
Garcia reduces the retrieve of the 408 on the least version of its Sky-blue 408. The gearing of this reel is similar to the standard ratio one of the 308.

4 - The New High-speed gearing.
Reference : 83678.
OBSERVATION :
A new 9 teeth cilyndrical pinion gear is designed. It is made to fit the diamond cut driving Gear (83671). This couple of gears brings back to the 408 its high ratio.

5 - The Single bearing ring.

OBSERVATION :
When the Mitchell production starts making some budget cuts, many parts were simplified. The pinion gear might be one of the best example of it. One of the two original bearing row is removed.
The bearing arbor is made out of brass.
